Job Description System Administrator will be
responsible for 7/24 technical support of a
Windows 2003 Active Directory environment administering,
monitoring, and performing maintenance on the
corporate Exchange Server.
Tasks and Accountabilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Exchange
2003 and Windows 2003 Active Directory
- Troubleshoot technical issues
- Ensure integrity and security of the network
- Analyze and solve problems related to servers
or the network under potentially stressful conditions
- Provide 2nd line technical support as needed
- Develop, implement and maintain policies and
procedures for system administration and appropriate
use
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates
to system configuration, mapping, processes,
and service records
- Design and perform server and security audits
and system backup procedures
- Design and implement disaster recovery plan
for operating systems, databases, networks,
servers, and software applications
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software
improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases
- Conduct research and provide recommendations
on emerging products, services, protocols, and
standards in support of systems software procurement
and development
- Practice network asset management, including
maintenance of network component inventory and
related documentation and technical specifications
information
- Install, configure and maintain Windows servers
and desktop/laptop systems
- Install, configure and maintain the local
network
- Continuously monitor the capacity and performance
of the company’s IT resources: network,
servers, and storage
- Provide on-call technical support
Must Have Skills:
- Completion of two years post-secondary education
with a Windows 2000/2003 Microsoft Certified
Systems Engineer (MCSE) designation, with electives
in Exchange and SQL preferred
- Experience working as a Network Administrator
in a NT/W2K network environment with Active
Directory Services, including Microsoft Windows
2000/2003 Server, Microsoft Exchange Server
2000/2003, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Active
Directory, Microsoft IIS
- Experience with ArcServe Enterprise backup
and Symantec desktop security suite of applications
- Experience running and administering MS Exchange
Server 2003
- Strong knowledge of LAN administration in
a Windows environment, including security issues
- Strong analytical, problem solving, communications,
and customer service skills
- Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting
experience
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication
skills
- Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting
technical documentation and procedure manuals
